Chef Jake Gober
Chef Jake was a chef contestant on ABC’s Season 3, The Taste. He delighted the palates of culinary heavy weights Anthony Bourdain, Nigella Lawson, Ludo Lefebvre and Marcus Samuelsson. He was chosen to be a part of Marcus Samuelsson’s team in 2014 and later worked as a guest chef at his James Beard award winning restaurant, Red Rooster in NYC.
He attended and graduated culinary school at Le Cordon Bleu in Austin, Texas. However, this chef’s culinary journey started from working in kitchens of Wildcatter Ranch and Resort, Abel’s on the Lake and Prelog’s. He’s proud that he’s held every position in the kitchen and worked his way up. After teaching his first class at Silver Whisk, Chef Jake decided he wanted to make cooking instruction was his full time passion.
In 2013, Chef Jake represented Silver Whisk at The Texas Food and Wine Foundation's, Tour de Vin and received local accolades for his dishes.
Since then he's done live cooking segments on KXAN/NBC in Austin and on KRIV/FOX in Houston.
Chef Jake also placed 2nd in the 2016 Katy Sip N' Stroll for best bite.
"I met Jake Gober on a television show called, "The Taste." Out of numerous contestants, I chose to mentor him and three other chefs on the show. I was impressed by his incredibly positive attitude in the kitchen. I think all chefs could learn something from Jake's overall enthusiastic presence and hustle in the kitchen. After the show, I offered Jake an opportunity to work as an apprentice at my restaurant, Red Rooster in Harlem in the summer of 2015. He's reliable, hard working and has boundless potential. He will go as far as he pushes himself. My wish for him is abundant success as he continues to grow as a chef and entrepreneur. I'm confident that his company, Silver Whisk will develop into exactly what he envisions. Anyone fortunate enough to cook with Jake will be met with a hospitable, adept and talented young chef. I wish him nothing but continued success in all his cooking endeavors."
